The studio records, as reported by Michael Krogsgaard, seem to suggest that on January 27, two days after the original session, there were three attempts at recording an insert for the song. The same musicians were at the session, and indeed recorded the version of "I'll Keep It With Mine" that was eventually released on The Bootleg Series Vol. 1-3.  However Al Kooper, who was among the musicians, denies that any inserts were recorded, so the studio log perhaps just reflects the engineering work done to effect the splice in the mono mix.
